Our History

Well, where do we begin? I suppose that is the point of this page. To begin.

A long time ago in a land far away called North Canton a small group was started out of local church called Louisville First Brethren Church (now Beacon of Hope Community Church). It was at that time that I (Tom) noticed a missing generation from the church, and not just our local church, but every church.

We began to meet as a small group  in a Starbucks in the Belden Village area and the group kept growing. Eventually I found that I was called to transition this group into a church. We split the group and began to meet in Belden Village as well as Arabica in Stow. At the same time we began to worship together as one group on Sunday Morning at Highland Elementary School.

Fast forward a few years and now we have multiple cell churches (we call them MicroChurches) throughout the region, once a month corporate worship experiences and every week Sunday morning gatherings. We have small churches meeting throughout the region: North Canton, Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Kent, Wadsworth, Medina and Ashland. Feel free to stop in and visit any of these churches as they are always open to visitors and new ideas.

The Center is a very personal experience. We hope you find reconciliation with God here and a new journey as a new kind of Christian. The name "The Center" means reconciliation and following a new path; the name is what A.A. members call their place of healing rather than just A.A.. It is their center, their home. So we welcome you to The Center, and hope you find reconciliation here.

Blessings,
Tom Asbury (Pastor)
